Fix Sleep Issues & Master the Fatigue System
If you can't interact with the bed or the sleep option isn't appearing, check these items first:
This guide is based on My Winter Car Early Access (December 2025). Sleep mechanics may be updated in future patches.
Quick answers to the most common sleep questions:
The most common reason is that the room is too cold. You need the room temperature to be at least 25-30°C to fall asleep. Turn on radiators and wait for the room to heat up (about 2 hours in the apartment).
Other possible reasons:
Go to your old bedroom at your parents' house. The house is already heated, so you don't need to wait. Walk up to the bed and look at the pillow area until you see the sleep prompt. Press F (default) to sleep.
Pro tip: Parents' house is the most reliable sleep location because it's always warm!
Main sleep locations:
You need the room to be at least 25-30°C to fall asleep. In your apartment, turn on radiators and wait approximately 2 hours. The parents' house is already heated.
You need to sleep approximately every 10-12 hours of in-game time. If your fatigue meter fills completely, you'll experience blackouts. Ignoring fatigue can lead to death!
Yes, coffee temporarily reduces fatigue. However, excessive coffee consumption can cause caffeine addiction, making you dependent on it. Use sparingly as an emergency measure!
Follow these steps to sleep successfully:
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to a sleep location (apartment bed or parents' house) |
| 2 | Make sure the room is heated (25-30°C minimum) |
| 3 | Walk close to the bed and look at the pillow area |
| 4 | Wait for the sleep prompt to appear |
| 5 | Press F (default key) to go to sleep |
If the apartment fails, always try the parents' house. It's pre-heated and works reliably every time!
Your home base. Requires heating the room first (~2 hours with radiators). Best sleep quality when heated properly.
Always heated and ready. Most reliable option. Great backup when apartment is too cold.
Can sleep in the cabin if desperate. Poor sleep quality. Use only in emergencies.
Some benches allow sleeping. Very poor quality. Risk of hypothermia. Last resort only.
The room must be at least 25-30°C for you to fall asleep. This is the #1 reason players can't sleep!
| Location | Heating Status | Wait Time |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment | Needs radiators turned on | ~2 hours |
| Parents' House | Pre-heated | None (instant) |
| Gifu Truck | Engine heater | Varies |
Understanding the fatigue meter is crucial for survival:
| Fatigue Level | Symptoms | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Low (0-30%) | Normal gameplay | Continue playing |
| Medium (30-60%) | Slight effects | Consider sleeping soon |
| High (60-90%) | Vision effects, slower movement | Find a bed immediately |
| Critical (90-100%) | Blackouts, danger of death | Emergency! Sleep or die |
When fatigued to the extreme, you'll start experiencing blackouts (momentary loss of control). If you blackout while driving or in a dangerous situation, you can die. Never ignore the fatigue meter!
Coffee can help manage fatigue, but use it carefully:
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Effect | Temporarily reduces fatigue |
| Duration | Short-term boost only |
| Risk | Caffeine addiction with overuse |
| Side Effect | May prevent sleep if consumed recently |
Drinking too much coffee can lead to caffeine addiction. Once addicted, you'll need coffee regularly or suffer withdrawal effects. Use coffee as an emergency measure, not a regular fatigue substitute!
