Which Clothing Should You Wear?
Winter Jacket — Good for mild cold (~0°C to -5°C)
Winter Coverall — Essential for extreme cold (-10°C and below)
The coverall provides superior warmth but causes sweating in milder conditions!
Temperature ranges are approximate based on community testing. Values may be adjusted in future updates.
Standard winter outerwear. Good for mild cold and short outdoor trips. Less bulky, won't cause sweating indoors.
Heavy-duty insulated workwear. Essential for extreme cold. Provides maximum protection but causes sweating in warmth.
| Feature | Winter Jacket | Winter Coverall |
|---|---|---|
| Warmth Level | Medium | Maximum |
| Effective Range | 0°C to ~-5°C | -10°C to ~-25°C |
| Sweating Risk | Low | High (in mild temps) |
| Indoor Use | Comfortable | Causes sweating |
| Best For | Daily activities, short trips | Extended outdoor work, extreme cold |
Choose your clothing based on the current temperature:
At temperatures below -25°C, even the coverall may struggle to keep you warm. Limit outdoor exposure and use heated buildings or vehicles to warm up regularly. Hypothermia can occur in 10-15 minutes at extreme temperatures!
Sweating is a key mechanic that affects your survival. Here's how it works:
| Effect | Description |
|---|---|
| Faster Cooling | Wet clothing loses insulation, causing rapid heat loss when exposed to cold |
| Window Fogging | Heavy sweating can fog up car windows, reducing visibility |
| Hypothermia Risk | If you sweat and then go outside, you'll get cold much faster |
Wearing a coverall indoors → Sweating → Going outside → Rapid heat loss → Hypothermia! Take off heavy clothing when indoors!
The current Early Access build tends to be quite cold overall. The coverall is generally the safer choice for most outdoor activities, but remember to take it off when indoors!
A: In milder conditions, yes. But when temperatures drop below -10°C, you'll need the coverall or risk hypothermia during any extended outdoor activity.
A: Both items should be available at your apartment or can be purchased from stores. Check your wardrobe first.
A: It depends. If your car heater is working well and you're driving for a while, you may sweat. For short trips, you can keep it on.
A: Try to cool down first and let the sweating stop. Going from sweaty to cold outdoor temperatures will cause rapid heat loss.
A: The game has a simplified clothing system. Choose either jacket OR coverall based on conditions rather than layering multiple items.
