๐ Good News: You Already Have the Keys!
Unlike some vehicles, you already have the Gifu keys by default when starting the
game. No need to find or purchase them!
2. Finding the Gifu Location
The Gifu is parked at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Perรคjรคrvi. This is
also where you'll return to empty the tank after completing jobs.
๐ Wastewater Treatment Plant Location
- Located in the Perรคjรคrvi area
- Check your in-game map (found at parents' house above the telephone)
- The truck is parked in the facility grounds
- This is also where you'll dump collected sewage
๐๏ธ Abandoned Gifu Variant
There's also an abandoned Gifu located next to Toivo's house in
Kesselinperรค. This variant may have different uses or conditions.
3. How to Start the Gifu
The Gifu uses a diesel engine and air brake system, requiring a
specific startup procedure. Follow these steps carefully:
1Check Transmission is in Neutral
Before starting, ensure the truck is in neutral gear. This prevents the truck from
lurching forward when the engine starts.
2Wait for Glow Plug Light
Turn the ignition key and look for the red glow plug indicator light (coil symbol)
on the dashboard.
- Wait until this light turns OFF before cranking
- This takes approximately 20-30 seconds
- First startup after loading the game takes longer
Important: Cranking before the glow plug is ready will make starting much harder
or impossible in cold weather!
3Crank the Engine
Once the glow plug light is off, crank the engine until it starts. If it struggles, try
pumping the accelerator while cranking.
4Pull Out the Hand Throttle
Pull the hand throttle knob partially or fully out. This serves two purposes:
- Helps keep the engine running smoothly after cold start
- Speeds up air pressure build-up for the brakes
5Build Air Pressure
The Gifu uses air brakes which won't work without sufficient pressure.
- A red warning light + loud buzzer indicates low air pressure
- A safety brake is automatically applied to prevent movement
- Rev the engine or use hand throttle to build pressure faster
- Wait 15-30 seconds until the buzzer stops and light turns off
๐จ Don't Drive Without Air Pressure!
If you release the handbrake before air pressure is built, the safety brake will prevent movement.
Wait for the buzzer to stop before attempting to drive.
4. Driving Controls & Tips
The Gifu has unique driving characteristics due to its size, 12-speed transmission, and air brake system.

12-Speed Transmission Guide
โ๏ธ Understanding the Gear System
- Low Range (L): Gears 1L through 6L โ for starting, heavy loads, and hills
- High Range (H): Gears 1H through 6H โ for highway speeds
- Press R to switch between High and Low range
- Recommended Starting Gear: 2L or 3L
- Fuel Efficiency Tip: Some players shift from 2L directly to 2H
Special Features
๐ผ Rear Axle Lift
The Gifu has a liftable rear axle controlled by a switch.
- Axle Raised (Yellow Light ON): Use when truck is empty โ saves fuel and
improves handling
- Axle Lowered (Yellow Light OFF): Use when hauling sewage โ provides stability
and traction
๐ Differential Lock
- Forces both drive wheels to spin at the same rate
- Use for: Off-road driving, getting unstuck
- Avoid on roads: Hinders turning, increases fuel consumption
Handbrake Operation
- Lever UP: Handbrake disengaged (released)
- Lever DOWN: Handbrake engaged (locked)
- Releasing handbrake causes temporary air pressure drop (buzzer may sound)
- Rev engine to quickly replenish air pressure
โ ๏ธ Air Brake Warning
Frequent or excessive braking can deplete air pressure. If you hear the buzzer while
driving, ease off the brakes and let the compressor catch up. Avoid using the handbrake repeatedly.
5. Septic Pumping Job Guide
The septic pumping job is one of the best ways to earn money in My Winter Car. Each completed job pays
1,200 MK!
Step 1: Receive a Job Call
๐ Answering the Phone
- Jobs come as random phone calls from homeowners
- Answer the phone at your apartment or parents' house
- CRITICAL: Listen to the entire message โ do NOT hang up early!
- After the call ends, a new location marker appears on your map
Common Mistake: Hanging up before the NPC finishes speaking will cancel the job.
Wait until they hang up!
Step 2: Drive to the Location
๐ Getting the Gifu
- Go to the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Get in the Gifu (you have the keys by default)
- Start the truck following the procedure in Section 3
- Drive to the marked location on your map
- Park approximately 3-4 feet from the septic tank
Step 3: Pump the Septic Tank
๐ง Operating the Pump
- Remove the septic tank lid (square cover on the ground)
- Go to the rear of the Gifu
- Click on the hose to pick it up
- Place the hose end INTO the septic tank (ensure it goes in fully)
- Return to the Gifu cabin
- Find the hydraulic pump switch on the dashboard and turn it ON
- Use the hand throttle to rev the engine and start pumping
How to Know It's Working: Your character will start coughing โ
this indicates the pumping has begun successfully! The hand throttle also increases pumping
speed.
Step 4: Get Paid
๐ฐ Collecting Payment
- Continue pumping until the tank is empty
- The homeowner NPC will say something like "Job done, here's money"
- You receive 1,200 MK per completed job
- Remove the hose from the septic tank
- Reattach the hose to the rear of the Gifu
Step 5: Empty the Gifu Tank
๐ญ Dumping at Treatment Plant
- The Gifu holds 10,000 liters (approximately 4 septic tanks worth)
- When full, return to the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Dumping costs approximately 1 MK per 6 liters
Warning: Illegally dumping waste (anywhere other than the treatment plant) will
result in a fine!
6. Maximizing Your Earnings
Here's how to make the most money from the septic pumping job:
| Factor |
Details |
Tip |
| Payment per Job |
1,200 MK |
Fixed rate per septic tank |
| Tank Capacity |
10,000 L (~4 tanks) |
Do 4 jobs before returning to dump |
| Dump Cost |
~1 MK / 6 liters |
~1,667 MK to dump a full tank |
| Net Profit (4 jobs) |
~3,133 MK |
(4 ร 1,200) - 1,667 = 3,133 |
๐ก Efficiency Tips
- Complete multiple jobs before returning to dump โ saves fuel and time
- Wait by the phone for job calls, or bring a mobile phone
- Plan your route to minimize driving distance between jobs
- Raise the rear axle when empty for better fuel economy
7. Troubleshooting Common Issues
Gifu Won't Start
๐ด Engine Won't Crank or Start
- Did you wait for glow plug light? โ Wait for red coil symbol to turn off
- Is it in neutral? โ Check transmission is not in gear
- Try pumping accelerator while cranking
- Cold weather: May take longer; use hand throttle after starting
Gifu Won't Move
๐ด Truck Started But Won't Drive
- Check air pressure โ Is the buzzer still sounding?
- Wait for air pressure to build โ Rev engine or use hand throttle
- Release handbrake โ Lever should be UP
- Check you're in gear โ Try 2L or 3L
Pump Not Working
๐ด Hose In Tank But Nothing Happening
- Is hydraulic pump switch ON? โ Check dashboard
- Are you using hand throttle? โ Rev engine to power pump
- Is hose fully inserted? โ The end must be completely in the tank
- Character coughing? โ This means it's working; wait for tank to empty
No Job Registered
๐ด Phone Call But No Map Marker
- Did you hang up early? โ Must listen to ENTIRE call
- Wait for NPC to finish talking โ They will hang up when done
- Check map after call ends โ New marker should appear
